We have a rose in the middle of our club badge but could we also soon have a Rose on the left side of our defence?
Many news outlets including the Manchester Evening News are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are bracing themselves for an offer they’ll be unable to refuse this summer for their jet-heeled wing back Danny Rose.
City desperately need a left back with both pace in the attack and basic defensive positional sense. Rose fits the bill on both counts and it is extremely unlikely that the ageing Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov will start in this position next season.
This transfer rumour has been circulating since late last year and is taking on new life because Spurs are apparently planning for life without the 26-year old Englishman with 12 England caps.
Several reports have it that Luke Shaw is Spurs’ idea of an adequate replacement. Some predict Shaw could be bought at a bargain price after his injury woes and lack of game time at United.
A big offer from Guardiola for Rose, a player he once described as unstoppable would then represent the type of profit that might be of interest to a no-nonsense businessman like Daniel Levy.
Rose would be doubly attractive as an Englishman in a squad dominated by foreign stars.
City fans wait with baited breath.
